Hometown: Duson , LA
School: American Intercontinental University Intended Major: Associates in Business Administration
Essay submitted by Amanda who plans to use the scholarship to help pay for her college education: I have applied for this scholarship for a number of reasons. I will begin with the most important reason first—so that I could afford to go to school. I have a beautiful son and a daughter is on the way. My children mean the world to me and I want to be able to offer them the world. I cannot do this without an education. I am working towards an Associates Degree in Business Administration. I currently have a 4.0 grade point average and I’ve already earned 44 credits. I want to be able to offer my kids the things I did not have in life. I am willing to work as hard as I possibly can to make sure of that. Going to school is an important step in a person’s life. It takes self-control and discipline. While attending school, I will make it a point to be the best that I can be. With this additional assistance, it will allow me to go beyond the stars. |

Helen Trujillo |

Hometown: Patterson , NJ
HIgh School: Mary Help of Christians Academy
Awards, Distinction, and Honors: Mary Help of Christians Academy Scholarship
College: William Paterson University
Intended Major: Nursing
Essay submitted by Sylvia who plans to use the scholarship to help pay for her daughters college education: My oldest daughter Helen has always caught my attention because she works very hard to be a good example to her sisters. I am a very old fashioned mother and I do not allow Helen to always go out whenever she wants to. I work full time as a bus driver from four until twelve midnight. My husband also works, and I hope Helen will be the first one in my family to attend college and actually finish. Helen presently attends Mary Help of Christians academy and she has a scholarship there and she also does work study hours at her school so that they can help us with the money. I have three daughters including Helen. I have worked very hard over the past years and I always tell my daughters that I have sacrificed myself for them for so many years. I never finished my education and I don't want the same for Helen. I know my daughter Helen has a real good head on her shoulders. She is the daughter I have alwyays hoped for because she is very mature in her actions and I am proud of myself because I brought her up right. If you grant us this scholarship it will mean so much to our family. Five thousand dollars would be a big help because I also have to look out for the future of my two other daughters which still have to go through high school and college. I know from the heart of a mother that Helen would never let me down because she knows better than that. If we win this scholarship Helen would want to attend William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey to become a nurse. Please consider our dreams it would be what we hoped for a long time. |
